While addressing the gathering Shri. Kishore Kshirsagar Laxman IAS, congratulated the DCPU for organising such programmes which are in need of the hour. He emphasized the need for Gender Budgeting and its proper implementation at various levels. The Gender Budgeting (GB) is the tool to remove gender inequality and further GB will lead to the social and economic advancement of the nation, he added. Shri. Kishore Kshirsagar Laxman IAS, has informed the gathering on various initiatives taken by District Administration for safeguarding the women and children bring them into mainstreaming as primary stakeholders. Shri.R.Raghuwaran, District Child Protection Officer (DCPU), Nicobar District has given a brief account of the role of grassroots level functionaries on effective implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) through Gender Budgeting. He further informed that such kind of programme would be continued throughout the District for the benefits of women in these islands and the next programme is proposed to be held on 18th March 2021 in Campbell Bay.
Dr K.Venkatesan, Assistant Professor and HOD, Department of Home Science, JNRM, Port Blair was the Master Trainer of this programme as a key resource person and delivered a lecture on Ministry of Women and Child Development Schemes and Initiatives for Gender Budgeting, Gender Budgeting Tools and Techniques on Civil Society Perspective. Further, Dr K.Venkatesan gave hands-on training on the Analysis of the Schemes in Gender Budgeting Perspective. Earlier Mrs Nallin Nadia, District Coordinator, MSK, welcomed the gathering and Ms Mercy.M, Social Worker, DCPU proposed the vote of thanks. Altogether 60 participants various departments such as ICDS, Health and Police took part in the programme.
