Port Blair, March 15: A lot of confusions and alleged miscommunication have delayed the Volleyball team of Campbell Bay from participating in a district level volleyball tournament organized by the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar at Car Nicobar, due to unavailability of any vessel for Car Nicobar.

The team was supposed to leave on 11th of March for Car Nicobar but now a vessel will finally be leaving tomorrow morning with the team and reach Car Nicobar by 18th March 2021.
Initially the Volleyball team of Campbell Bay was told by the AC office of Campbell Bay that they can’t be sent to Car Nicobar because the speed boat MV Shompen, stationed at Campbell Bay, is “under repair “.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the BDO of Campbell Bay who is presently holding the charge of AC Campbell Bay, she said that MV Shompen was not having enough fuel to reach Car Nicobar and travel back to Campbell Bay because of which the schedule got cancelled.
However following pressure created by Andaman Sheekha Daily, now authorities are sending the vessel MV Shompen for Car Nicobar tomorrow.
“Tomorrow morning MV Shompen will be leaving for Car Nicobar via Nancowrie, in this vessel the players can reach Car Nicobar by 18th March with the approval of the DC” the AC (Incharge) said today.
When asked about whether they could still be able to participate in the District Level Volleyball Tournament she said that even if they reach by 18th March, they will be given chance to play all matches.
