Port Blair, Mar 19: Beach clean-ups happen with one major motive, to spread awareness to people about improper disposal of waste. Each individual can better the ocean’s ecosystem by playing their part in keeping the beaches clean. The process is simple, easy, and a great lesson for the entire community. It is estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans, in the upcoming years, if we continue to throw plastic in the ocean.

The Directorate of RD, PRIs and ULBs, A& N Administration continuing its commitment to ensure “ZeroWasteAndamans”. In this connection a beach clean-up drive was organised at Gandhinagar beach (30km), Campbell Bay. The drive got accomplished with the active support and participation of SHG members, villagers and staffs of BDO. Around 60 bags of plastics from the beach were collected.
The vision is to have seas full of life – seas and coasts where nature flourish and people thrive, won’t be possible if we don’t urgently get off from this plastic menace.
