Port Blair, Mar 04: The Andaman Mopla Service Organization (AMSO) in a Cultural Exchange Programme held in the conference hall of Hotel Marina Manor, Junglighat, Port Blair hosted a group of Keralites from different social backgrounds led by Dr. Bobby Chemmannur, renowned Philanthropist and Businessman and Er. TPM Hashir Ali, International Tour Operator.

Mr. N. Yusuf, President, AMSO welcoming the delegates, spoke briefly on the history of Moplahs in the Islands and their association with Kerala. He reminisced the struggle and hardships faced by the Mopla Freedom Fighters firstly by the Britishers and later by the Japanese Army during India’s freedom struggle..
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bobby Chemmanur gave a detailed account of his business ventures in various sectors such as Travel and Tourism, Banking, Jewellery, Resorts etc. and more importantly on his social commitments as a philanthropist. On understanding the fact that a large number of Islanders visits Chennai and Kerala to avail higher medical treatments, he assured to arrange for accomodation facilities free of cost for socially distressed individuals and at nominal price basis for others. Further, he also exhorted all to join his social service endeavours through the Bobby Fans Android Mobile App, wherein person in need could be identified and marked for assistance through the Bobby Fans Charitable Trust.
On the occasion, Dr. Bobby Chemmannur felicitated three socially distressed individuals with financial assistance of Rs. 25000/-. The assisted individuals were Miss. Sahiba D/o Abdul Kader R/o Calicut, aged 15 years suffering from high diabetes, Master Bharat s/o Sh. Asai Durai r/o Haddo , aged 13 years who is 100% differently abled and Kumari Varsha D/o Late Yesudas, an orphaned child aged 19 years being presently looked after by uncle.
The members of the delegation namely Mr. Hashir Ali, Mr. Faisal, Mr. Vijayaraj, Mr. Sathar and Mr. Zubair also shared their thoughts and expressed happiness to get-together with the Malyali Fraternity of the Islands.
Concluding the programme, Mr. Abdul Siddique, General Secretary, AMSO thankfully acknowledged the time and effort taken by the visiting delegates for participating in the culture exchange programme. He remarked that the Island is considered as a Mini India wherein people from all religious background lives in absolute harmony and peace. As the malayali fraternity are closely associated with Kerala and frequently visits the State, he urged Dr. Bobby Chemmannur to take up the matter of setting up of an Andaman Bhawan in the state for convenience of the Islanders. He also urged all to be associated with the social service activities of Bo-Che and contact the Executive Committee of AMSO to avail the services.
