Port Blair, Mar 02: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) and Population Education Cell of Directorate of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Islands jointly conducted three days “ADOLESCENCE EDUCATION” advocacy cum training programme for teachers from 24th to 26th February, 2021 at the Conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan, Port Blair.The teachers who participated in the training were from South Andaman Zone.

Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) aims to provide young people with accurate age appropriate and culturally relevant information, promote healthy attitudes and develop skills to enable them to respond to real life situations effectively. The trained teachers will be implementing AEP in their respective schools

The resource person for ‘Mental Health issues in Adolescence’, was Dr. Parvesh Batra from Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS); Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, Dy. Director (ANACS) discussed on the growing up of Adolescence, sexual health and HIV & AIDS and Mr. Raja Ram, GSS, Shaheed Dweep discussed the life skills and nutrition in adolescence. Booklet both in Hindi and English were distributed to all the participants.

Mr. Mamman Thomas, Project Coordinator (PEP/AEP), Dy. Director Education (Science), Shiksha Sadan, coordinated for the successful implementation of the training programme.

The ANACS team conducted the programme under the guidance of Dr. M. Joy, Project Director, ANACS.
